Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

It’s that time of year for spooks, goblins and ghosts to come out.  And we have got you covered with some grapetastic ideas for incorporating our fave fruit into your Halloween holiday party.

There are those who plan their costumes for the following year the very instant they are packing away their Halloween costumes for the year.  These are the people who LIVE for Halloween and decorate everything for the holiday. Then there are those that wait until the very last minute to queue their Halloween costume idea.  No matter which camp you fall into, we have a grapetastic idea for you that will make you stand above all the ‘bunch’ and the best part is that it can be done for less than $10.

Simply get some purple or green balloons (large), a package of safety pins, and some green tulle wired ribbon.  Blow up the balloons, dress in black from head to toe, and then just pin the full balloons (with some help) to you, topping your head off with a green tulle ribbon/bow.  And if you’d like your four-legged pal to go with you in style, this costume is easily done for them too.

Now that you’re dressed for grape success, let’s talk food for your party! We have TONS of grape and easy ideas for you on our site and here are a few new ones for you to try too!

Brain Chicken Salad

This recipe comes courtesy of Loving Life Fam and is a crazy fun addition to your Halloween table.

Watch the video.

Supplies:
Large Mixing Bowl
Spatula or Spoonula
Small Paring Knife
Serving Platter

Salad Ingredients:
2 cooked chicken breasts, shredded
1 pound boiled potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 pound pound carrots, cubed
2 hard boiled eggs, finely diced
1 celery stick, finely diced

Dressing:
1/2 cup garlic mayonnaise (make your own by adding a finely minced garlic clove to a 1/2 cup of mayo)
1 Tbsp ketchup
1 tsp prepared horseradish
salt and pepper

Garnish:
1 pound green grapes, cut in half lengthwise
Ketchup (as desired)

Directions:
Mix garlic mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish and salt and pepper to taste in a large bowl with spatula or spoonula for the dressing. Use a lower fat mayo if you prefer. I personally like the full flavored regular mayonnaise from Kraft. Your preference may vary however. Add the rest of the salad ingredients to the dressing and mix well. Take a serving platter and form 1/2 ball shape out of salad. Divide the salad to 2 hemispheres with your spatula. Cover the entire surface with the halved grapes, if they don’t stick add a little more mayo and use like a glue. Squirt around the edges with ketchup and squirt a little more in between the hemispheres of the brain so it will look like blood. You can place a variety of crackers and cheese cubes near by for your guests as well. Serve immediately or refrigerate for later.

Monster Eyes

This is a quick and easy spooktacular recipe that is sure to delight kids of all ages.

Ingredients:
Grapes – green or red
White frosting
Mini chocolate chips
Decorator icing bag (or disposable plastic sandwich bag with tip cut for icing)

Directions:
Make a plate display of grapes. Take each grape and pipe on some white frosting to represent two eyes, placing a mini chip in the center of each one. Return grape to plate decor.

Spooky Spider Rice Cakes

These spiders are sure to cause a frightful smile to all who cast their gaze upon them.

Ingredients:
3 blueberry/raspberry rice cakes
4 blackberries
3 black grapes

Directions:
Crush two blackberries in a small bowl with the back of a fork, cut the other two blackberries in half. Use a clean paintbrush to paint a spider’s web with the juice on a white plate. Your older children will probably love to help with this, by the way. Place three rice cakes on to the web, then add a half blackberry spider body on top of each rice cake. Slice each grape in half from top to bottom, then slice each half into four thin spider legs, adding them to each spider. Courtesy: amummyto.co.uk

Now that your party table and you are both set for Halloween, we should talk about your entertainment. Sure the decorations, food and fun costumes all come in are all part of setting the stage for a grape time, but how about adding some games too?

The Withered Corpse Game (Ages 8+)

This blindfold game is a proven party hit! In fact, you’ve probably played some version of this in your childhood. This American classic involves telling a story about some poor soul who was killed, his body left to rot. You’d then stick your hands in bowls of food that represented decaying body parts. After all the players have their experience, they remove their blindfolds and try to guess what they were handed.

Supplies Needed:
The Withered Corpse story
Chilled and peeled grapes, in a bit of Jello for extra flair – “eyeballs”
Drained, canned whole tomatoes – “organs”
Half cabbage, boiled – “brains”
Cooked, cold pasta spaghetti or udon noodles – “arteries/veins”
Big ball of Playdoh, lathered in oil – “heart”
Dried beef jerky cut to size/shape – “fingers”
Large sun-dried tomatoes or apricots – “ears”
Prunes – “toes”
Canned gravy, tinted red with food dye – “blood”
Soft corn tortillas, with a little oil – “skin”

Eeeek!!!

Have a spooktacular and grapetastic Halloween!
